final year is about to begin - alun viimeinen

Lähtölaskenta viimeisen kandivuoteen on alkanut. Kävin tänään opon juttusilla ja kohta pitäisi viimeisen vuoden lukkari olla valmiina ja enrolment loppusuoralla. Luennot ja kurssit alkavat jo ensi viikolla. Koulun aloitus on aina erityinen tapahtuma, uudet kynät ja vihkot, kouluvaatteet ja kavereiden kanssa jälleennäkeminen. Jo tänään, undergrad toimistossa tuli hirveästi muistoja mieleen, viimeksihän olin helmikuussa yliopistolla. Syylukausi on ihana, uudet kurssit ja kurssikirjat, tehtävä deadlinien merkkaus kalenteriin (ja myöhemmin samojen deadlinien parissa tuskailu). Tiedän jo, että yhdelle kursille täytyy kirjoittaa 6000 sanan essee (ja keväällä final year project odottaa allekirjoittanutta.) Syksyllä on myös kaikenlaisia tapahtumia ja kaiken kruunaa joululoman vietto Suomessa. Toisin sanoen ylihintaisten lentolippujen osto ja pakkailuahdistus. Still, syyslukausi on parasta. Näillä näkymin, myös kiireinen, tuon jättiesseen palautus heti joulun jälkeen, lisäksi lupauduin societiin järkääjäksi ja otan osaa meidän METIMUM konferanssiin. 

This happy camper, final year student is excited to start the last year of uni and wrap it all up! I met with my PAA (personal academic advisor) today to get my timetable approved and completing course registration. So, for the next few days, I'll be checking my email inbox constantly (nothing new, cause I've already got that illness) and waiting to see what my final year schedule will be like. Then it's time to pick out the cutest stationary, choose your first day of school outfit and get back to class, where the first days are rarely anything serious. Gossiping with friends, have something to drink at the SU bar and  waking up early is about the come. Other than that, I'll be busy this academic year with co-organising a society and taking part in our METIMUM conference. And did I mention christmas break? The time of the year when everything smells like ginger cakes and you got christmas carols playing in the shops and when you pay for overpriced flights since you forgot uhmm.. to book your flights on time as well as cramming for exams. Better take it all in and enjoy because this is The Last Year.
